Our final move to Pakostane was in February 2016. The house we arrived to, was full of our grandmas memories and we didn’t want to get rid of that. But everything needed a good restoration. Wood was scratched, textile lost the initial vibrant colors and at that moment it just looked old. We just didn’t know what to start from, the amount of job just was overwhelming. Especially because of the fact that we never did something like that before. But we just started, step by step, item by item. Once you have a look of what the piece of furniture looked before and after you transformed it, you realize you just want to do more. And you can’t stop. Once we restored all the items we found, there were still some things missing. So we thought we can go to the furniture shop and buy what we needed. After looking at all the furniture shops in the area, we figured that all the items that had affordable prices had very low quality. And than Daniel said “Why don’t we try and make our own beds? How hard can it be?”. And it wasn’t hard! It was so much fun! We buy the wood, the paint, tools and all the small necessary things and in few days we made our first bed! Handmade furniture in Pinch. The mattress we got was made in Croatia with really good price and quality was amazing. Our first guests were so happy with the room. They were mostly happy about how comfortable the bed felt! From that moment, we decided that all our rooms should have handmade furniture. And this is something that makes our rooms unique. The same happened with our restaurant. We try to recycle as much as possible, but when we cant find a piece that would fit, we make it.
Now we have a lot of people who work with us. Some come for short time as volunteers and they are very happy to learn how to make something new. On the other hand, we have others who are already working on their own and design and build their own pieces.
